Please call me Sam! A little about me, I am a Senior UX/UI design contractor for Charles Schwab. When I design, I keep both the user and the stakeholder in mind for pixel-perfect prototyping to help developers have an easy time translating the prototype to code. Throughout my career, I have realized that empathy is key in all design thinking for not only the users but also for the company or stakeholders.

As a UX/UI designer, I start with design thinking first in agile sprints. Working through ideas by first speaking to the product managers/stakeholders to see what analytics are already available or doing the research and competitive analysis myself, and what the company is looking for. Then thinking through what the user would benefit from in this experience; I start to sketch and work with the team to start ideating. In the beginning, it’s best to keep an open mind and no idea is a bad idea. When working through the sketching phase, I really enjoy moving from the sketches to Figma and then creating prototypes using autolayout to then go into user testing.

For me, user experience design is about deep thinking, empathy, and problem-solving. Designing is also just one facet of who I am. I am also a photographer who loves to draw, paint, bake, and cook, as well as explore the world. Also, going up to random dogs on the street cause who can help but pet and love all the cuteness that is a puppy?! Also, I have a cat named Molly who is my cutest little fur baby.
